GIG HARBOR, Wash. -- The Gig Harbor Film Festival celebrated its outstanding volunteers July 28 with a Western movie-themed party at Gig Harbor's Crescent Creek Park.

The volunteers were served a delicious chicken and pork barbecue with red-checkered tablecloths, and they played several games from the Old West, including "Cow Pie Toss" and "Lasso Trigger."

Trigger was a wooden pony provided by Misty Meadows boutique.

Five teams of volunteers competed for their Oscars -- the OK Corrals, Sundance Kids, True Grits, Mavericks and the Blazing Saddles. The OK Corrals were triumphant.

After the food was served, volunteers teamed up to play the Oscar toss, featuring water balloons that were disguised as Oscars. Sharon Stearnes and Leiani Sherwin were the winning pair.

Volunteers were presented a special keepsake Western-themed photo card for all the work they do during the festival.

The fifth annual Gig Harbor Film Festival returns Oct. 19-21 at Galaxy Theatres at the Uptown Gig Harbor Shopping Center.
