** IT'S A WRAP ** for this successful second Gig Harbor Film Festival, The REEL Gig...Where the Harbor Meets Hollywood. Those of us associated with this newly formed Gig Harbor Film Festival wish to thank each of your for your continued support. Without your positive feedback and constructive suggestions, we would not enjoy this quick growth that is happening.
We look forward to presenting more great quality independent films to you next year. This year, we hosted 21 talented filmmakers, who introduced their films and stayed to answer questions from the audience...the in-person conversations allowed all of us to learn further about the importance of independent films and how they motivate, encourage, educate, and entertain the community as a whole.
We look forward to our continued growth within our beautiful Gig Harbor...what a blessing to live within a community that welcomes a film festival which brings local, regional, and international filmmakers to advance a variety of creative ideas and bring the community a diverse range of films. The Gig Harbor Film Festival gave aspiring filmmakers an opportunity to present their efforts to a sophisticated audience and gain recognition beyond the local level.
** WE ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THE FOLLOWING 2009 WINNERS **
Directors Choice Awards were:
1st place: Dive, filmmaker Jeremy Seifert.
2nd place: POPPIES, filmmaker David Bertelsen.
3rd place: Mildred Richards, filmmakers Marc Kess and Jill Schissel.
The Filmmakers Spirit Award was awarded to the Shumway Brothers...Jason and Matt for Enigma.
The Kids Fest Kids Educational Choice winner was Who Lives in the Sea, by Dive Into Your Imagination.
Thank you all for coming to our second Gig Harbor Film Festival and please watch for upcoming events throughout the year as we plan our third annual Gig Harbor Film Festival in 2010...
